Wedding Formalities

Wedding Services must, by law, follow certain guidelines. Within those guidelines I can help couples create the service which incorporates their beliefs about marriage. Because their vows become personalised, the commitment to marriage is genuine and meaningful.

A NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE must be completed and received by the Celebrant at least One Month and One Day before your Wedding Date. A shortening of this time is permissible by the Courts ONLY in exceptional circumstances. This notice is valid for up to eighteen (18) months. The Celebrant must sight the following documents:

	Your Birth Certificate or Extract
	If divorced, your Decree Absolute
	If widowed, a Death Certificate

All these documents must be originals.

Both parties must be over eighteen years of age.

Once the marriage is completed, this Notice Of Intended Marriage is sent with your Certificate of Marriage to the Registrar General's Office in your Capital City. You will receive your own Certificate of Marriage to take away with you on your wedding day.
